Purpose: By law, the Douglas County Attorney also serves as the Douglas County Coroner. The Douglas County Coroner's Office investigates deaths that occur within Douglas County and has the authority to determine the cause of death on cases it is charged with investigating.

Goals and Objectives: The Douglas County Coroner's Office serves to compassionately provide accurate information on deaths to families, law enforcement, and the public at large when investigating deaths. The Douglas County Coroner's Office employs a team of highly trained and accomplished pathologists to serve as Coroner's Physicians. These physicians utilize the latest in clinical and forensic pathology techniques to provide the most information possible to the Coroner's Office regarding an individual's cause of death.

Services: In cases where the Coroner's Office has investigated a death and determined a cause of death, the Coroner's Office will provide a copy of the autopsy to next-of-kin only. Please contact the Coroner's Office as shown above for more details.
